Lenovo ‘Sisley’ S90’s “coincidental” similarity to the iPhone 6

If you thought that the practice of copying Apple was limited to mostly no-name manufacturers or the black market, then you were probably surprised to see Lenovo release what looks like a blatant copy of the iPhone 6. Of course they claim it was merely coincidental.

Really?

We’re, of course, referring to the Lenovo ‘Sisley’ S90, a coincidental twin sister of the iPhone 6.

Lenovo has indeed responded to accusations of copying the Apple product’s design with the following statement…

“While there are external similarities, considering the product design lifecycle of any smartphone – at least a year in planning and prototyping – it’s not possible to copy a design so quickly.

Hmmm… I’ll let you decide by yourselves whether you’re willing to believe that or not!

But, putting all of that aside, the S90 is actually a decent device, that for a fraction of the price of an iPhone 6is one of Lenovo’s best releases yet and great value for money!

Without further ado, let’s see how the two compare…

Apple iPhone 6 Gold LTE,GSM,WCDMA 16GB (USA spec A1549) 2×1.4GHz 1GB RAM 4.7in 8M/1.2M 1SIM iOS 8 1810mAh – price: 732.00 USD

VS

Lenovo S90 Gold WCDMA 16GB 4×1.2GHz 1GB RAM 5in 13M/8M 2SIM Android 4.4 2300mAh price: 223.08 USD

Witty International Ltd. is exhibiting at CTIA 2014 in Las Vegas, USA

Dear GSM Trading professionals,
thank you for visiting us at our booth #1128 at CTIA 2014. As some of you already know at CTIA 2014 we launched our mobile trading app – Witty Trader.

We had hundreds of questions regarding our App and it got some great feedback, especially from the tech savvy people. While the App is still under constant improvement we already released “1.0” so feel free to download it from Google Play and for IOS from our local storage.

Other than our APP, we of course had an array of smartphones to introduce to the USA market. For most of the CTIA attendees it was first hands on experience with the Chinese smartphones we already have on offer for quite some time, and most were pleasantly surprised how elegantly designed and advanced the products were, with specs that compete with the major brands and go beyond in some cases.

Let’s not wait until next year to re-unite, if you have any inquiries regarding our new APP or offers, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

OnePlus One has been added to our offer

OnePlusOne_4

Following our customer’s demand, we have added the OnePlus One phone to our offer – both 16GB and 64GB versions. While the official website promises a price of 299 USD and 349 USD respectively, it’s only available via invitation. Therefore it’s basically unavailable on wholesale level and our stock availability is quite limited.

was quite curious as to why everyone is consumed by this brand/phone in particular. I will be honest with you – it’s quite difficult to please me as I’m always aiming first at the weakest point of the latest phones, and that is the battery – the top models from Lenovo offer 4000mAh battery (Lenovo P780 and Lenovo S860), while the OnePlus One phone offers “only” 3150mAh – considering the phone’s screen is 5.5 inch it raises a few eyebrows as to why the construction team didn’t push it to the top by offering 4500mAh battery or even better – especially as it’s built-in. The other specs are also not top of the range – it’s quad core CPU at 2.5 GHz and 3 GB RAM accompanied by 13MP back and 5 MP front camera. Storage capacity already mentioned above – 16 GB or 64 GB without an option for microSD card. At this point I have to ask – why not push it to octa coreWhy not offer 128GB or 256GB of storage? For a device we hear about everywhere and a promising 4k video recording with ultra-high storage capacity, something that makes logical sense – especially when OnePlus One presents itself as a “high-end” phone. The connectivity is fine – WiFi, EDGE, GPRS, UMTS, HSPA, HSPA+ and LTE Cat 4 (150/50Mbps) yet the phone is not dual sim  .

I will not comment on design as it’s about individual preferences so take a look at the photo below:

OnePlusOne_1-300x293

Though looking at the box I think it’s an excellent idea for a gift – I can’t imagine anybody would be insulted by the look of the box and its packaging, which is extraordinary:

OnePlusOne_11-300x200

Yet what is the point of a nice box – it would be perfectly suitable as a gift if you didn’t need some weird invitation to get the stock? When I need to buy a gift for somebody I expect to buy it online and get it delivered within 24-72 hours, I really don’t feel like looking for invitations to spend my money – yet I don’t like queues either while people buying new Apple models probably enjoy them

On the other hand I have to admit that from what I’ve seen the software inside seems well balanced and the general responsiveness of the phone is very good. But yet again the Lenovo S860 provides the same level of responsiveness, so what’s the big deal? I think that “extra” is the ROM inside provided by the guys from CyanogenMod, which is nice and it allows some extra features which are usually only available on the rooted phones.

Just my 2 cents.

Enjoy the weekend!

Friday Humor – Two Ways How To Do Business

As most of you noticed sales of mobile phones dropped during this time by some amount as sale of mobile phones is also to some degree seasonal. While this is quite obvious when you sell ice cream or maybe soft drinks – you get the most demand during the hot days and during cold days the demand drops significantly.

But this might not be so apparent at first sight for this kind of business – according to our records we (as mobile trading companies) have “high season” during the late summer and then, obviously, some during the Christmas time but March, April, May is “low season”. I also did some research on this using some public data and it supports my findings. I think I can share this publicly at later time.

Though my point is – sometimes there is shortage of deals like at this time and then the price war steps in. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately?) our market – Lenovo, Xiaomi, ThL, Zopo, Oppo, ZTE is not yet fully developed and as such with sale of the goods it doesn’t really end but it actually only begins as there is usually no official support or repair center available for it therefore the only way how to get any help once the goods gets to the end customer is from the seller.

I think this business, trading of Lenovo, Xiaomi, ThL, Zopo, Oppo, ZTE; can be done in two ways – with very slim margins – you sell it like Apple – you buy from somebody, then you sell it to somebody else and make maybe between 0.1 % – 2 % profit on it, right? We know some of these people and their trading floor, office, warehouse, customer support, dining room and bedroom is usually located in one place:competitors_trading_floor

You will probably get the best price from these companies but as always everything comes at a price so do not expect any support, guarantee or any knowledge of the stuff they are selling and if anything goes wrong you are on your own. You know unless you are completely new to this business, and now I’m referring to sale of phones in general not to any of the above mentioned brands, you know that there is always a possibility that something goes wrong. With brands such as Lenovo, Xiaomi, ThL, Zopo, Oppo or ZTE as these brands are not so mature and the customers are not used to these brands thus the chance that something goes not the expected way is much higher.

SONY DSC

By the way one of these companies has been recently banned for life at GSMExchange.com for exactly this reason – they boasted they can do anything and nothing is problem for them so the poor customers ordered goods from them and when it came to solving problems they just run away with their money. If you don’t believe us ask directly at GSMExchange.com marketplace which company was selling these brands and why they were kicked out…

Anyway we at Witty see things differently – we believe that selling these brands is, if you take it seriously, not so easy and it definitely can’t be so called “one-man-show” – we now have close to 30 people in three countries on two continents (China/Asia, Czech/Europe and India/Asia) and almost half of these people it is taking care of customer welfare and added value so once the customer buys goods from us he knows he can sell it immediately to the end customer. Here is a small sneak peek at our warehouse:
